Aci Trezza

Aci Trezza is a charming seaside town in Sicily, only 10 km outside of Catania to the north. With only 5,000 residents, Aci Trezza is a quiet and neighborly town away from the business and traffic of the big city.

This small town is a special place, a place where black lava rock from Mt. Etna meets the azure blue of the Ionian Sea. A contrast that inspired many stories, among them Homer’s Odyssey.

Aci Trezza is ideal for relaxing, snorkeling and enjoying the slow Sicilian pace. It is also the perfect home base from where you can visit Sicily’s East Coast highlights such as Taormina, Catania, Siracusa, Noto and Mt. Etna.

Casa Oliva’s History

Casa Oliva is a 100 year old home built by the D’urso family in the 1920s. At the time the house was built, there were no neighboring buildings next to it, only olive groves and farmlands. Hence Casa Oliva’s name ties to its old history.

The home has been abandoned for half a decade when Niki & Marco purchased it and began restoring it in 2022. Unfortunately some of the old character of the home has been lost over the years but two gorgeous features were saved during the restoration.

Both rooms of the home have the original cement tiles with incredible patterns. Their imperfection shows their age, but gives wonderful charm to the apartment. Niki & Marco also restored the handcrafted wooden furniture pieces that came with the house, these are estimated to be from the 1950s and are beautiful examples of craftsmanship.
